Lauren Danielle Bhagwandat

My Story

Hi, there!

My name is Lauren (a.k.a. LoLo), and I am a formally trained software engineer and self-taught artist. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Computing and Mathematics from Queen’s University and most recently worked as a Pipeline Software Engineer in the Cinematics department at Blizzard Entertainment.

My passion for art runs deep. In addition to playing the piano, violin, and flute, I write, paint, and dance. Acrylic paint is my favourite medium to use. Although, I have always been enchanted by oil paintings. Therefore, my mission is to perfect my technique to create acrylic paintings that look as if they were painted in oils. I also regularly paint digitally, for studies and final pieces, of which I aim to resemble traditional paintings. I love colour theory and art philosophy, always seeking out enriching experiences to appreciate the artworks of others.

My professional career has been within the VFX, Animation, and Games industries as a Pipeline TD/Software Engineer. These roles have given me extensive experience in interfacing with artists and fellow engineers across every department of the production pipeline, as well as developing new and innovative tools to streamline workflows and processes. I often find that my artistic endeavours inform my approach to software development, as they help me to see how I might like a piece of software to be improved and enhance my ability to communicate with artists who use such software.

On my website, you can find many of my best and latest pieces of art and programming. With extensive experience in languages such as Python and C++, frameworks like PyQt, as well as traditional and digital art forms, I am constantly chasing the infinite possibilities of the creative and technical worlds.
